Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Analog and Digital Hardware Design Engineer to develop platforms for the reliability characterization of new and emerging power conversion IC products. The primary focus of this role is the design, development, and evaluation of power supply systems and unique power conversion architectures used to assess product reliability before new products are released to market. The successful candidate will work on earlystage evaluation platforms for ICs that are in the initial phases of development and validation.

Responsibilities • Design dynamic operating life test circuits for accelerated reliability testing of power conversion ICs using a variety of switching power supply topologies. • Develop complex, modular test systems capable of operating in environmental chambers at temperatures up to 95°C, while maintaining device-under-test (DUT) temperatures up to 125°C. • Interpret Objective Technical Specifications (OTS) and translate requirements into functional evaluation and reliability test circuits. • Work cross-functionally with IC design, product development, and reliability engineering teams to translate device requirements into effective reliability stresstest platforms and validation methodologies. • Participate in design reviews and provide hardware design feedback to support product development, characterization, and qualification activities. • Design and specify magnetic components, including inductors and transformers, for reliability stress-test platforms. • Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to fabricate test boards and custom components. • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and optimize reliability test hardware and test methodologies. • Document designs, test procedures, and operational specifications. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or equivalent. • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in power electronics and hardware design.

Required Experience and Skills • Design and development of power electronic systems, including power converters, inverters, and power supplies. • Analog and digital circuit design. • Switched-mode power supply (SMPS) design, including: o Buck converters o Boost converters o SEPIC converters o Flyback converters o Forward converters o Bridge converters o Resonant converters • High-temperature accelerated life testing and reliability evaluation. • Troubleshooting and debugging of new and existing reliability test systems. • Proficiency with electronic design and PCB layout tools. • Strong understanding of PCB design practices, particularly for high-voltage and high-current applications. • Experience with Verilog and FPGA development. • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as Simetrix and SIMPLIS. • Strong technical writing skills, including design documentation and operational specification development.

Preferred Qualifications • Experience designing custom magnetic components for power conversion applications. • Familiarity with reliability testing methodologies and qualification standards for semiconductor power devices. • Experience working in an R&D or new product development environment.
