The Opportunity

When you join Smurfit Westrock, you will be joining a team that creates sustainable paper and packaging solutions that help move the world forward. As an entry level multi craft Maintenance Technician, you will support the safe and reliable operation of automated industrial equipment by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems. You will work closely with operations and maintenance partners to reduce downtime, improve equipment performance, and help deliver consistent quality and service to our customers.

How You Will Make an Impact

\u2022 Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated industrial machinery, including motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, communication devices, industrial controls, electronic controls, and power transmission systems.

\u2022 Install, set up, and troubleshoot alternating current and direct current drives, three phase motors, and motor control circuits.

\u2022 Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings to diagnose equipment issues and complete repairs.

\u2022 Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems, bearings, pumps, encoders, sensors, and limit switches.

\u2022 Perform basic welding and mechanical repair work to support equipment reliability and plant operations.

\u2022 Partner with team members to support production goals, optimum quality, outstanding customer service, and continuous improvement.

\u2022 Follow applicable safety, quality, and company standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

\u2022 Perform additional duties as assigned to support plant and maintenance priorities.

What You Need to Succeed

Required Qualifications

\u2022 High school diploma or equivalent.

\u2022 One to two years of experience troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems to the component level.

\u2022 Working knowledge of automated industrial machinery, electrical controls, power transmission equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

\u2022 Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

\u2022 Basic welding skills and familiarity with air powered and electrically powered pumps.

\u2022 Computer literacy and the ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a team.

\u2022 Ability to work first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., move to other shifts as needed, and work daily or weekend overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications

\u2022 Military technical training or completion of a relevant technical school program.

\u2022 Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

\u2022 Experience in the corrugated packaging industry.
