Senior Accountant

A client of ours is looking for a Senior Accountant for a contract role. This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining accurate financial records, performing account analyses, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger experience, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities of Senior Accountant

• Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries.

• Lead and support the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Perform detailed account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.

• Conduct account analysis and investigate fluctuations, variances, and discrepancies.

• Support and maintain payroll accounting, including payroll accruals, reconciliations, and related general ledger activity.

• Assist with 401(k) accounting, reconciliations, and employee benefit-related financial reporting.

• Review and reconcile bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and fixed assets.

• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and compliance requirements.

• Collaborate with internal departments to improve accounting processes and controls.

• Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications of Senior Accountant

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 5+ years of senior accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting or similar role.

• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.

• Experience with account reconciliation, account analysis, month-end close, journal entries, payroll accounting, and 401(k) accounting.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis functions.

• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software preferred.

• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
