Norfolk, VA | Full-Time

Bring Your Shipboard Electrical Experience to the Waterfront

You know what it takes to keep shipboard electrical equipment mission-ready. Put that experience to work with Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc., supporting U.S. Navy aircraft carriers homeported at Naval Station Norfolk.

As part of the CEMAT electrical project team, you will troubleshoot electrical casualties, maintain and repair auxiliary electrical equipment, and provide hands-on technical guidance to ship’s force. Your knowledge will help Sailors resolve equipment problems and keep CVN systems ready for operations.

Transitioning and former Sailors, shipyard electricians, and marine electrical professionals with the required Navy shipboard experience are encouraged to apply. Relevant backgrounds may include Electrician’s Mate (EM), Interior Communications Electrician (IC), or comparable shipboard electrical experience. These examples are not additional rating requirements.

Why Join Epsilon Systems

  • Become an employee-owner. Epsilon Systems is a 100% employee-owned company offering an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), giving eligible employees an ownership stake in the company.

  • Build your civilian career while supporting the Fleet. Apply your Navy training and waterfront experience to work that directly supports aircraft carrier readiness.

  • Pass your knowledge to the next watch team. Provide practical troubleshooting guidance and on-the-job training to ship’s force Sailors.

  • Access employee benefits. Epsilon offers company-subsidized medical and dental coverage, paid time off, company-paid holidays, a 401(k) retirement plan, and an education reimbursement program, subject to eligibility and plan terms.

What You Will Do

  • Troubleshoot shipboard electrical casualties using multimeters and megohmmeters to identify faults and support equipment restoration.

  • Maintain and repair CVN auxiliary electrical equipment, including electrical equipment supporting centrifugal pumps, air conditioning systems, and 400 Hz power conversion systems.

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.

  • Provide engineering and technical support to the CEMAT electrical project team.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for shipboard personnel.

  • Deliver over-the-shoulder and on-the-job training to ship’s force Sailors.

  • Advise ship’s crews on materials, maintenance, and training for CVN shipboard equipment and systems.

What You Bring

  • Eight (8) years of experience operating, repairing, and maintaining naval or marine propulsion, hull, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.

  • U.S. Navy surface ship or aircraft carrier experience.

  • Documented electrical technical knowledge and expertise in Navy shipboard electrical systems and equipment.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and other technical data related to the construction and operation of naval hull, mechanical, and electrical equipment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience as a team leader or supervisor of subordinate work groups.

Education Substitution

An associate degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to two (2) years of technician experience.

Job and Safety Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

  • Ability to work aboard ships and in shipyard environments under industrial conditions.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, hearing protection, and safety glasses.

  • Complete the OSHA 7615 Shipyard Employment 10-Hour training course within thirty (30) days of hire.

  • Respirator qualification, including a physical examination and fit test.

Show Us Your Navy and Waterfront Experience

In your resume, identify the ships and ship classes you supported, the electrical systems you maintained, and examples of casualties you troubleshot or repaired. Highlight your experience with auxiliary electrical equipment, 400 Hz systems, electrical testing, preventive maintenance, and training ship’s force.

Transitioning Sailors should include relevant Navy schools, qualifications, work center responsibilities, and leadership assignments. Shipyard and industry applicants should clearly identify their U.S. Navy shipboard experience.

ADA/Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 50 lbs.

  • Able to work on and climb ladders and work in extreme temperatures, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces.

  • Able to perform other duties as required, which may involve high heat, humidity, noise, dirty conditions, and working aloft or over the sides of vessels.

  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator.

  • Most work is performed aboard ships or under industrial conditions.
