Experienced shipyard and marine maintenance professionals with the required U.S. Navy shipboard background are also encouraged to apply. These examples are not additional rating requirements.

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on CVN mechanical and auxiliary systems.

  • Maintain and repair shipboard equipment, including centrifugal pumps, air conditioning systems, hydraulics, JP-5 pumps and purifiers, Vertical Package Conveyors (VPCs), main drainage systems, capstan and towing systems, boat davits, and galley and laundry equipment.

  • Deliver over-the-shoulder and on-the-job training to ship’s force Sailors.

  • Advise ship’s crews on maintenance procedures, material requirements, and training for CVN shipboard equipment and systems.

What You Bring

  • Eight (8) years of experience operating, repairing, and maintaining naval or marine propulsion, hull, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.

  • Two (2) years of experience as a team leader or supervisor of subordinate work groups.

  • U.S. Navy surface ship or aircraft carrier experience.

  • Documented mechanical technical knowledge and expertise in U.S. Navy shipboard systems and equipment.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and other mechanical technical data used in the operation of naval hull, mechanical, and electrical equipment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Your Specialized Qualifications May Count Toward Experience

Quantified specialized skills, such as trade qualifications or manufacturer training certifications for shipboard systems, equipment, and components, may substitute for up to two (2) years of technician experience for each major qualification or specialized trade skill.

Applicants requesting this substitution should include supporting qualifications and certifications in their application for review.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
