MECHANICAL AUXILIARIES ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN III

Norfolk, VA | Full-Time

Continue Supporting the Fleet in a Civilian Career

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is hiring an experienced mechanical technician to support U.S. Navy aircraft carriers at Naval Station Norfolk.

Your shipboard experience matters here. As part of the CEMAT mechanical project team, you will troubleshoot auxiliary equipment, perform maintenance and repairs, and help ship’s force Sailors resolve mechanical problems. This is an opportunity to continue supporting Navy operations in Hampton Roads while applying the technical skills and leadership you developed in uniform.

Transitioning and former Sailors are encouraged to apply, including Machinist’s Mates (MMs), Enginemen (ENs), Machinery Repairmen (MRs), and engineering Chiefs who meet the required qualifications. Shipyard and marine maintenance professionals with U.S. Navy shipboard experience are also encouraged to apply. These examples are not additional rating requirements.

Why Join Epsilon Systems

  • Become an employee-owner. Epsilon Systems is a 100% employee-owned company offering an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) for eligible employees.

  • Stay connected to the Navy mission. Support aircraft carrier maintenance and operational readiness on the Norfolk waterfront.

  • Put your technical knowledge to work. Troubleshoot equipment, support repairs, and provide practical guidance to ship’s force.

  • Help develop Sailors. Share your experience through over-the-shoulder instruction and on-the-job training.

  • Access employee benefits. Epsilon offers company-subsidized medical and dental coverage, paid time off, company-paid holidays, a 401(k) retirement plan, and an education reimbursement program, subject to eligibility and plan terms.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as a mechanical subject matter expert for shipboard personnel and provide engineering and technical support to the CEMAT mechanical project team.

  • Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair shipboard mechanical systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic instruments.

  • Maintain and repair CVN auxiliary equipment, including centrifugal pumps, air conditioning systems, and hydraulic systems.

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems.

  • Deliver over-the-shoulder and on-the-job training to ship’s force Sailors.

  • Advise ship’s crews on material requirements, maintenance procedures, and training for CVN shipboard equipment and systems.

What You Bring

  • Ten (10) years of experience operating, repairing, and maintaining naval or marine propulsion, hull, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.

  • U.S. Navy surface ship or aircraft carrier experience.

  • Documented mechanical technical knowledge and expertise in Navy shipboard systems and equipment.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and other mechanical technical data related to the construction and operation of naval hull, mechanical, and electrical equipment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience as a team leader or supervisor of subordinate work groups.

Education Substitution

An associate degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to two (2) years of technician experience.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

  • Ability to work aboard ships and in shipyard environments under industrial conditions.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, hearing protection, and safety glasses.

Safety Qualifications

The following qualifications must be current or obtained within thirty (30) days of hire:

  • OSHA 7615 Shipyard Employment 10-Hour training course.

  • Respirator qualification, including a physical examination and fit test.

Show Us Your Shipboard Experience

In your resume, identify the ships and ship classes you supported, the auxiliary equipment you maintained, and examples of mechanical troubleshooting and repairs you performed. Highlight your work with pumps, air conditioning, and hydraulics, along with any experience leading maintenance teams or training Sailors.

Transitioning Sailors should include relevant Navy schools, NECs, technical qualifications, and work center responsibilities. Shipyard and contractor applicants should clearly identify their U.S. Navy shipboard experience.
