Full job description
About Solum Health Solum automates the insurance work behind outpatient care: verifying benefits, getting prior authorizations approved, and finding coverage patients didn't know they had. For an outpatient provider group, every new patient sets off the same chain of admin work. Someone checks the patient's coverage on an insurer's website, works out what's actually covered, calls the insurer when the website doesn't answer the question, pulls clinical documents together for an authorization, faxes it, and follows up for days. When any step is late or wrong, the patient's start date slips or the claim gets denied. We replace that chain with software. Our customers include some of the largest PE-backed and outpatient provider groups in the U.S. We're backed by Y Combinator, Liquid 2 Ventures, FundersClub, and Wisdom Ventures, along with founders and operators including Immad Akhund (Mercury), Sebastian Mejia (Rappi), and Bradley Horowitz (former VP Product, Google). The role You'll own how Solum goes live at every new customer, from the first technical call until the customer's team relies on us every day. Every provider group runs differently. Some work out of an EHR, some out of a CRM, and many out of spreadsheets, shared inboxes, and processes built up over years. Your job is to understand how each one actually works, connect Solum to it, and get our insurance automations running inside their workflow without asking them to change how they operate. Then you make sure it keeps working and keeps getting better. What you'll do
- Own integrations end to end. Map how the customer handles insurance work today, decide where Solum should pick up the work and where results should land, then build the connection and take it live.
- Lead customer deployments. Run the technical side of onboarding: kickoff, data and access requests, testing, go-live, and the first weeks in production. Keep the timeline short and the customer clear on what happens next.
- Make customers successful after go-live. Watch how the automations perform for each customer, catch problems before they do, and turn their feedback into fixes and improvements.
- Make onboarding faster every time. Write the playbook, templates, and reusable integration patterns so each new customer goes live quicker than the last.
- Build for reliability. Add the logging, monitoring, and alerts that show whether every customer's integration is healthy.
- Bring the field back to product. Spot what customers keep asking for and work with engineering and the founders to build it into the product.
How we build At least 90% of the code we ship is written with Claude Code and Codex. Engineers here spend their time directing agents, reviewing every change carefully, writing tests, and owning what goes to production. We expect you to already work this way, and we'll ask you to show us how. What we're looking for Required
- 3+ years in software engineering, solutions engineering, or integration work, with systems you took live yourself.
- You already write most of your code with Claude Code, Codex, or similar coding agents, and you have a reliable way of reviewing and testing what they produce.
- Strong integration skills: APIs, webhooks, authentication, data mapping, file handling, and debugging problems that span several systems.
- Customer-facing experience. You can lead a call with an operations manager or a client's IT team, ask the right questions, and explain tradeoffs in plain language.
- Excellent written and spoken English. (C1 required)
Ideally
- Startup experience, especially at an early stage company where you shipped every week and owned outcomes, not tickets.
- Experience in healthcare, health insurance, medical billing, or a related industry, especially with EHRs or similar systems.
Why this role
- You'll be one of our first engineers, and you'll define how Solum connects to every customer from here on.
- You'll work directly with large provider groups and see your work running in their day-to-day operations within days.
- You'll work directly with the founders, and you'll help decide how the team and the company grow.
How we work We're a small team taking on a big problem, and the pace reflects that. Most of us work more than 12 hours a day, and weekend work is common. We're telling you up front so you can decide whether this is the right time in your career for it. If it is, we'd like to talk.
