Summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties

  • You will serve as a Program Manager for the Range Safety Section and will be responsible for independently planning and carrying out the Range Safety Program, resolving conflicts as they arise and coordinating work with others where necessary.
  • You wll be responsible for maintaining good customer relations and providing assistance to all Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command (MAGTF-TC) customers through analysis of customer complaints for all using units
  • You will be responsible for maintaining and enforcing the MAGTF-TC Range Safety Program; Range Laser Safety Program; Range Radio Frequency Hazard Program by utilizing a variety of analytical, advisory, consultative, and coordinating techniques.
  • You will conduct risk assessments for all exercises, weapons live fire and military unit operations.
  • You will monitor through on-site inspections that military units are utilizing ranges and facilities correctly; that weapon systems and ammunitions are proper for the facility; and that charges, propellants and fuses are being set properly.
  • You will evaluate all aspects of assigned range programs to determine the degree of effectiveness and compliance with established requirements and standards.
  • You will develop, monitor and implement the Range Safety Program in compliance with established regulations and policies.
  • You will organize and conduct a variety of safety training classes for unit safety officers, NCOs and Marines based on pertinent Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Regulations, Field Manuals, Technical Manuals, MAGTF-TC Regulations and local SOPs.
  • You will ensure that Range Control personnel are trained in safety to include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Hazard Communication and Hazardous Material and are kept current regarding local policies and safety programs.
  • You will coordinate with Public Affairs Officer on range safety matters concerning public at large to include safety education and notices of range firings and/or range area closings.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Identifing and eliminating hazards arising from weapons firing and training; applying safety policies and procedures concerning surface danger zones, weapon systems, and ammunition; and, establishing and maintaining a range safety program. Education

In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify for the GS-11 position based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows: Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Or Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
