General Purpose

Conducts special studies and analyses, develops alternatives, presents recommendationstomanagement and influences management decisions.Researches, analyzes, develops and implements new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions.CoordinatesFuel Resources’ support of Net Power Cost testimony and data requests.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual FERC/regulatory reports.

  • Process internal controls to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

  • Support Corporate Accounting in developing monthly general ledger entries.

  • Provide coal cost detail for regulatory filings and answer data requests from internal and external sources.

  • Represent the company in meetings and proceedings with senior management and regulatory commissions.

  • Support coal supply negotiations.

  • Assist in maintaining policies, procedures, business processes, and contract activities.

  • Develop operational knowledge over control center activities.

  • Develop new processes and procedures that impact the business.

  • Identify areas of potential risk and propose process improvements and innovations.

  • Compile, analyze and interpret operating data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business management or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A minimum of five years experience in accounting or a related field.

  • Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis

  • Strategic, analytical and proficient computer skills.

  • Ability to work with all organizational levels, regulators, and joint owners.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions.

  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.

Preferences

  • Advanced degree and/or CPA designation.

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Experience working with legal contracts and ability to interpret and apply contractual language.

  • General understanding of utility economics and accounting, FERC Code of Regulations, and utility commission rules and regulations.

  • Experience in SAP Financial Systems modules.
