Description

We are looking for a Manager, Family Office Accounting to lead core accounting activities for a complex family office environment in Old Bridge, New Jersey. This position oversees financial operations across multiple entities while delivering accurate reporting, organized records, and decision-ready analysis for leadership and family stakeholders. The role also serves as a key partner on tax support, investment accounting, cash oversight, and day-to-day issue resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct accounting operations for multiple family office entities, ensuring complete and accurate financial records across a diverse structure.

  • Lead the monthly close process by reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and related schedules to support timely reporting.

  • Manage the full accounting cycle from daily transaction recording through preparation of tax-supporting workpapers and detailed backup documentation.

  • Produce financial summaries, analyses, and presentation materials that help leadership and family stakeholders understand results and key activity.

  • Monitor cash positions, banking transactions, and overall liquidity needs across entities to support effective financial management.

  • Coordinate closely with outside accountants, tax professionals, and legal advisors to support compliance and resolve accounting matters.

  • Support tax-related workflows by organizing underlying accounting information, assisting with return preparation needs, and maintaining clear documentation for individuals, partnerships, and related entities.

  • Oversee accounting and reporting for both traditional and alternative investments, including performance, income activity, and tax-sensitive reporting considerations.

  • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of two team members while serving as an escalation point for operational and accounting issues.

  • Partner with the Director of Family Office on special projects, changing priorities, and ongoing process improvement efforts.

Requirements

Requirements of the position:

  • Strong foundation in accounting principles with the ability to interpret the substance behind financial transactions.

  • Experience managing accounting across multiple entities within a complex organizational structure.

  • Background in month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

  • Familiarity with tax-related accounting workflows, including allocations, K-1 support, and how financial records connect to tax reporting.

  • Exposure to investment accounting, including marketable securities and alternative investment activity.

  • Experience supporting high-net-worth individuals, family offices, partnerships, or similarly complex financial environments is preferred.

  • Willingness to remain hands-on with detailed accounting work while balancing oversight responsibilities.

  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.
