Substitute Teacher Associate (Grades K–6)
Location: Winterset Community Schools – Heartland AEA's HEART Therapeutic Classroom Program
Position: Substitute Associate
Pathways Available: Direct potential for long-term substitute placement and eventual full-time employment!

We are seeking a caring and dependable Substitute Associate to support our students in Grades K–6.

What You Will Do

Guide & Support: Help students practice self-control, social skills, and coping strategies.

Classroom Teamwork: Partner with licensed teachers, families, and staff to help every child succeed.

Help with Learning: Work one-on-one or in small groups with basic reading, writing, and math.

Positive Behavior: Follow student behavior plans, keep rooms safe, and give positive feedback.

Track Progress: Keep simple records and data to show how students grow over time.

Be Present: Bring regular, consistent attendance and a positive spirit every day.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Two years of college OR a Paraeducator Certificate (a degree in education or social services is a plus).

Experience: Experience working with children who need extra social, emotional, or behavioral support.

Skills: Clear communication, patience, teamwork, and basic computer skills.

Safety: Must pass a background check (position handles confidential student records).

Physical Needs: Ability to move, walk, stand, bend, and supervise active elementary kids.
