Description
Stony Brook University’s Department of Writing and Rhetoric (DWR) is hiring a full-time lecturer specializing in English Language Learning (ELL, ESL, ESOL, ENL) to start in August 2027. Possession of an MA in TESOL or Applied Linguistics at the time of application; minimum three years’ experience teaching English language learners (ELLs) in a postsecondary setting, including but not limited to grammar, phonetics, and/or phonology; proficiency in prescriptive English grammar and phonetics; and native or native-like fluency in English are required. Preferred credentials include experience with group-based rubric assessment of student learning outcomes; evidence of academic service; and demonstrated commitment to advancing educational access, opportunity, and inclusive excellence. The position offers a two-year, renewable appointment for 3 in-person courses per fall/spring semester, teaching undergraduate ELLs in the Program in Academic English, graduate-level international TA training, and first-year writing in the DWR. Other duties include performing departmental service and mentoring students.
