Description
The Mathematics Department at Stony Brook University expects to have two Simons Instructor (SUNY title of Lecturer) positions available beginning in the fall semester of 2027 contingent on funding availability. A Simons Instructor position is a three-year post-doctoral level appointment with a competitive salary of $75,000 and reduced teaching.
Required Qualifications: Applicants are required to have earned a Ph.D (or foreign equivalent)degree in Mathematics before 8/31/27. Preferred Qualifications: It is preferred that applicants received their Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in 2020 or later, and that their research areas compliment those of current department members.
Application materials include: 1) AMS Standard Cover Sheet, 2) Cover Letter, 3) CV, 4) Publication List, 5) Research Statement, 6) Teaching Statement, and 7) At least four Reference Letters.

Research Assistant Professor - The Simons Center for Geometry & Physics has two open positions for Mathematics Research Assistant Professors available with a starting date of September 1, 2027 These are non-tenure track appointments offering an annual salary of $85,000. A research fund of $5,000 will be offered for scientific travel, inviting visitors and other research related expenses on a yearly basis; in addition, $2,000 will be provided to defray moving expenses in the first year. The Simons Center for Geometry and Physics is an endowed research organization devoted to furthering fundamental knowledge in geometry and theoretical physics; especially knowledge at the interface of these two disciplines.
