The Mathematics Department, in the Meditz College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University, invites applications for a tenure track position in Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in September 2027, pending final budget approval. We seek a highly qualified candidate with a PhD in Mathematics or closely related field, with research expertise in applied mathematics and a potential for interdisciplinary research. Teaching responsibilities will be at the undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) level.

Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field, with research interests in applied mathematics and a potential for interdisciplinary research. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential, as well as strong evidence of research potential. A commitment to pedagogical innovation and demonstrated excellence in using technology in the classroom is required.

Additional Information:

The Mathematics Department is an active and collegial group of 24 full-time faculty members. The teaching load for this position is 3 courses (9 credit hours) per semester and consists of courses at the undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) level. Class sizes are small and there are many opportunities for professional development. The Master’s program is an evening program and attracts a wide variety of students - secondary school teachers, eventual Ph.D. candidates, and people working in industry or business.
