Job Description

Insight Global's client is looking for a Senior Ballistician. The Senior Ballistician will support the design, analysis, testing, and evaluation of next-generation solid rocket motor technologies. This role will provide ballistic and energetic analysis to inform motor design, manufacturing, testing, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform ballistic analysis to predict, validate, and improve solid rocket motor and propellant performance.
  • Develop, refine, and validate computational methods and ballistic analysis tools.
  • Analyze test data and use results to guide future designs.
  • Support energetic material characterization, testing, and modeling.
  • Support failure investigations, failure analysis, and production deviation resolution.
  • Collaborate with systems, design, and manufacturing teams to meet performance and manufacturability requirements.
  • Prepare and present technical results and program findings to internal, government, and commercial customers.

Salary range: $107,000- $134,000

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of experience in solid rocket motors, ballistics, or engineering design/analysis.
  • Experience with energetics performance analysis, experimental design, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with CLWire, SPP, or similar ballistic analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with control theory and its application to engineering problems.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, Fortran, or similar programming languages.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Applied R&D and/or production support experience.
  • Familiarity with combustion instability.
  • Strong background in fluid mechanics and/or compressible flow.
