Full job description

Description

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations and support accurate, timely financial reporting in Concord, California. This position will oversee close activities, maintain the integrity of the general ledger, and help ensure compliance with audit and reporting standards. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to improve processes while partnering effectively with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop an accounting team while promoting accountability and professional growth.

  • Oversee month-end close activities, including review of reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting schedules.

  • Ensure accurate financial records, reporting compliance, and strong internal controls.

  • Investigate and resolve complex accounting transactions, ensuring issues are fully analyzed and closed.

  • Drive process optimization, automation initiatives, and system enhancement projects to improve efficiency.

  • Support technology-driven improvements, including AI and workflow modernization efforts.

  • Collaborate with finance, operations, and supply chain teams across multiple business units.

  • Assist with specialized accounting areas such as intercompany transactions, joint ventures, employee benefits, and other technical matters.

  • Contribute to regulatory reporting and compliance within healthcare, nonprofit, or multi-entity environments.

  • Champion continuous improvement and a high-performance team culture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of accounting leadership experience, including supervising and developing team members.

  • Proven ability to manage accounting operations within complex or multi-entity organizations.

  • Hands-on experience with Workday Financials, including at least 2 years of system use.

  • Background in healthcare, nonprofit, or similarly regulated environments preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial controls.

  • Understanding of inventory, supply chain, or operational accounting practices.

  • Ability to review accounting work thoroughly, identify issues, and ensure accuracy.

  • Experience driving process improvements, workflow optimization, and automation initiatives.

  • Exposure to system implementations, upgrades, and technology-focused projects.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; Power BI knowledge is an advantage.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and motivate
