Full job description
Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future Hadrian is building autonomous factories to reindustrialize America. By combining AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we help aerospace and defense companies build rockets, satellites, aircraft, ships, and other mission-critical systems up to 10x faster and at significantly lower cost.
Following our $1.37B Series D at a $7.87B valuation, Hadrian is rapidly expanding our manufacturing footprint, launching new capabilities across welding, casting, forging, electronics, additive manufacturing, and more, while scaling our Factory-as-a-Service platform to transform how critical products are built.
Backed by leading investors including JPMorgan Chase, Valor Equity Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, 137 Ventures, Lux Capital, T. Rowe Price, and Morgan Stanley, we’re building the future of American manufacturing—and looking for exceptional people to help make it happen.
If you’re ready to take on the most challenging and rewarding work of your career while helping create American manufacturing jobs for generations to come, you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
The Role: As Senior Manager, Purchasing, you will build and lead Hadrian’s purchasing function within Finance. You’ll own strategy and execution for indirect and non-production spend, including services, software, facilities, IT, and R&D purchases, and you’ll lead buyers who manage those categories day to day. You’ll bring extreme ownership, structure, and will optimize how Hadrian buys, so every team gets what it needs quickly and efficiently. You’ll partner closely with Supply Chain, FP&A, and Accounting, and you’ll develop relationships with suppliers to manage cost and schedule across a broad spectrum of items.
What You’ll Do
-
Build and scale the purchase-to-pay process and system, including intake, approval workflows, PO controls, and escalation paths, as we add new factories and teams
-
Lead, hire, and develop a team of buyers, setting clear goals and ensuring consistently fast and effective procurement across categories
-
Negotiate and manage major supplier contracts and long-term agreements, holding suppliers to their commitments on cost, quality, and delivery
-
Partner with FP&A and Accounting so purchases are properly coded, accrued, and visible, and spend ties back to budget
-
Educate and enforce purchasing policy and controls to prevent maverick spend
-
Build a preferred supplier network for recurring needs and track supplier performance across cost, quality, and delivery
-
Use data to drive decisions: report on spend, savings, tradeoffs, and supplier performance through clear dashboards and recommendations
-
Present sourcing strategies, contract awards, cost reduction plans, and spend trends to Finance and company leadership
-
Work with Supply Chain to align on supplier ownership, policies, and systems across direct and indirect purchasing
What We’re Looking For
-
7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or sourcing, including indirect or capital spend
-
3+ years leading a team with direct reports
-
Track record of managing high-value contracts and long-term agreements
-
Strong knowledge of purchase-to-pay processes, internal controls, and how purchasing ties to accounting and budgeting
-
Strong negotiation skills and the confidence to hold a firm line with suppliers and internal stakeholders
-
Proficiency with ERP systems, Excel, and procurement workflows
-
Ability to move quickly, prioritize well, and stay calm in a fast-changing environment
What Will Set You Apart
-
Purchasing leadership experience at a high-growth aerospace, defense, space, or advanced manufacturing company
-
Experience building or scaling a procurement function from the ground up
-
Background in both Finance and Supply Chain organizations
-
Experience buying for new facilities or factory build-outs, including capital equipment and construction-related services
-
Familiarity with ITAR and FAR/DFARS requirements in purchasing
-
Experience with procurement systems, SQL, or data visualization tools such as Power BI
-
A builder mindset: you’d rather fix a broken process than work around it
