PennEngineering is seeking motivated, excited, and innovative students for our intern program. As an intern at PennEngineering, you'll gain hands-on experience, learn from experts, and collaborate with teams that do truly amazing things. Join us as we build the future in Engineering!

Over the course of our internship experience you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work directly with a mentor in your field of study while finding solutions to real world problems

  • Support engineering projects in manufacturing, operations, or technology development.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Experience and learn the fundamentals of LEAN manufacturing

  • Enhance working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD via design of fixturing, tools, ergonomics assists, etc.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office suite of software to create process flow diagrams and presentations

  • Perform time studies and apply the data to justify systematic change

  • Enhance interpersonal communication skills by working directly with operations and leadership staff

  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to provide specific recommendations to plant leadership on how to reduce waste and improve efficiency of existing manufacturing processes.

  • Assist Continuous Improvement team with plantwide LEAN and 5-S initiatives such as audits and standardized work creation.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Current student working towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or something similar

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software

  • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD. Ideally AutoCAD or Creo.

  • Proactive self-starter with an eagerness to learn

  • Strong interpersonal communication skillset

  • Strong public speaking skillset

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NEEEDED

  • Must be able to navigate entire facility and be on their feet for at least 1-hour intervals

  • Visual acuity for detailed work
