Job Summary

The School of Marketing in the College of Business & Economic Development at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants to apply for a nine-month position of Instructor of Marketing beginning in August 2027. This position is for the Hattiesburg campus and will support our growing face-to-face and online Marketing degrees, minors, and certificates.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and, depending on academic credentials and program needs, may have opportunities to teach graduate courses. The position carries a teaching load of 12 semester credit hours per term and includes participation in School events and activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach four courses per semester (or equivalent) to be determined by the Director of the School. Teaching assignments will primarily support the Marketing BSBA degree, minors, certificates, and related programs.

  • Teach a variety of marketing courses based on program needs, with particular emphasis on Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, and/or other courses as needed.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching in both face-to-face and online learning environments, and contribute service supporting the mission of the School, College, and University.

  • Collaborate effectively with faculty and staff and participate in School events, activities, and initiatives.

  • Additional responsibilities may include managing the School's social media presence and/or the Social Media Minor, mentoring undergraduate students, supporting student recruitment and retention efforts, and performing other duties as assigned.
