As a Senior Product Manager for the Recon Solutions and Services release train within Cox Automotive, you will own a significant area of the One Recon platform, a modern, unified technology hub consolidating fragmented legacy recon tools and manual processes into a single, seamless experience for Manheim auction sites and their reconditioning operations.
In this role, you will set the direction for your product area within the broader One Recon vision, translating organizational objectives and operational insight into a prioritized, outcomes-driven roadmap. You will lead discovery and definition for complex epics and features, align engineering, UX, and operations partners around shared goals, and represent your area in cross-functional forums. You will also serve as a go-to resource for PMs on the team, sharing practices and supporting their growth. Your responsibilities will span area-level product strategy, discovery, stakeholder engagement, go-to-market execution, and performance measurement for your domain.
This role requires a seasoned product manager with strong platform thinking, a working understanding of APIs and integrations, and the ability to balance strategic clarity with hands-on delivery accountability. You will help ensure the One Recon platform delivers measurable operational improvements and supports Cox Automotive's leadership in auction reconditioning services.
Primary Duties & Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
-
Own the product strategy and roadmap for an assigned area of the One Recon platform, aligned with the platform vision set by product leadership and Manheim's operational priorities.
-
Translate platform direction into area-level objectives, sequencing epics and features to maximize business value and reduce dependencies across the release train.
-
Participate in quarterly and annual planning, making a clear case for investment in your area and trade-offs against other priorities.
-
Identify opportunities to replace legacy recon tooling and eliminate manual processes within your area, and champion those opportunities with leadership.
Discovery & Stakeholder Insight
-
Lead product discovery for complex or high-impact problems, synthesizing operator interviews, usage data, and operational trends into clear problem statements and opportunity assessments.
-
Build and maintain working relationships with auction operators, operations partners, and internal stakeholders who depend on your area, balancing individual site needs with enterprise-wide value.
-
Serve as the subject matter expert on recon workflows and the systems and integrations within your area, and advise other teams on how they interact with it.
Execution & Delivery
-
Define and prioritize epics and features for your area, with clear acceptance criteria, scope boundaries, and dependencies.
-
Partner with engineering, UX, and architecture to shape solution designs, resolve trade-offs, and keep delivery on track against committed outcomes.
-
Own backlog health for your area, ensuring requirements are clear and ready before they reach delivery teams.
-
Escalate blockers and cross-team conflicts to product leadership with a recommended path forward.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Go-To-Market
-
Represent your area in release train planning, reviews, and stakeholder forums, communicating progress, risks, and decisions clearly.
-
Lead go-to-market readiness for your area's releases, including release communications, operator enablement, and documentation that drives adoption.
-
Build alignment across teams and workstreams that touch your area, driving a shared understanding of priorities and progress.
Team Contribution & Mentorship
-
Share product management practices, frameworks, and lessons learned with other PMs on the team, and provide informal coaching on discovery, prioritization, and stakeholder management.
-
Act as a sounding board for PMs navigating complex stakeholder dynamics or ambiguous problem spaces.
-
Contribute to team norms and ways of working that improve consistency and quality of output.
Performance & Optimization
-
Define and monitor KPIs and adoption metrics for your area, using data to validate outcomes and guide iteration.
-
Identify workflow automation, process optimization, and platform consolidation opportunities within your area.
-
Lead resolution of complex product issues in your area and ensure feedback loops are in place to continuously improve the platform.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years’ experience in a related field
