OVERVIEW
The University of St. Thomas Psychology Department invites applications for an adjunct faculty appointment to teach PSYC 202: Lifespan Development, a foundational undergraduate course examining prenatal development through late adulthood, including physical growth, brain development, cognitive changes, emotional and social development, and research designs. The department anticipates a need forone to two sections for Spring 2027, with additional teaching opportunities possible in future semesters based on department needs and enrollments.
We are particularly interested in candidates with academic training and/or teaching experience in developmental psychology, human development, lifespan development, or a closely related area. Candidates with experience teaching lifespan or developmental psychology at the undergraduate level are especially encouraged to apply.
All courses are taught in-person on the St. Paul campus of the University of St. Thomas.
The salary range for the College of Arts and Sciences Adjunct positions ranges from $5,994 to $6,717 (per 4 credit undergraduate course, 3 credit graduate course). Rate of pay is determined by academic credential and years of teaching experience.
Teaching load generally ranges from one to two lectures sections per semester, depending upon department needs and enrollments. We seek candidates interested in facilitating meaningful experiences between students and faculty that empower undergraduate students to find success and to solve challenging problems in service of the common good.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
We will consider candidates with an advanced degree (master's or doctorate) in Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Human Development, or a closely related field. ABD doctoral candidates are encouraged to apply.
Preferred qualifications:

Graduate training in developmental psychology, human development, psychology, or a closely related field;

Experience teaching lifespan development, developmental psychology, or related undergraduate courses;

Familiarity with contemporary developmental research, theory, and evidence-based approaches to understanding human development across the lifespan;

Ability to engage undergraduate students with the major concepts, theories, and empirical findings in developmental psychology;

Interest in fostering meaningful relationships with and mentoring undergraduate students;

Commitment to inclusive and student-centered teaching practices.
