Job Description
The Manager, Process Modernization is responsible for leading and executing enterprise-wide, cross-functional process improvement projects that drive operational efficiency, eliminate waste and reduce cost. The Manager will collaborate with functional teams from Operations, Supply Chain, Finance and other business units to map current state processes, identify process inefficiencies through root cause analysis, and redesign processes. This position is accountable for delivering project-level results through data analysis, , stakeholder collaboration, peer benchmarking, and effective change management that supports AutoZone’s strategic objective of driving more profitable growth.
This position reports to the Director, Process Modernization and will have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities

Lead and execute cross-functional process improvement projects from scoping through completion, ensuring objectives are met on time and within project scope.

Develop detailed project plans that define scope, timelines and resource requirements.

Identify inefficiencies (e.g., excessing handling, non-value add activities, etc.), risk and waste through detailed process mapping, value stream mapping, process engineering and redesign methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)

Determine the source of process inefficiencies by conducting robust root cause analysis. Develop control plans to address root causes in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis to establish project baselines, measure improvement, and validate financial and operational outcomes.

Drive change management efforts and ensure smooth adoption of new processes and systems. Help teams understand why processes are changing and support them through the transition to drive stakeholder engagement.

Develop or improve standardized work practices to support consistent performance of improved processes.

Provide project governance, including tracking progress and reporting status to the Director and stakeholders across multiple concurrent projects.

Cultivate a reputation as a “value-add” business partner to help avoid barriers to process redesign.

Effectively create and present findings, project updates, and recommendations to business leaders and stakeholders, including executive management.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred

7+ years of progressive experience in process engineering, quality engineering, process improvement or continuous improvement roles required

2+ years of supervisory experience

Experience documenting a complex end-to-end current state across functions, systems, handoffs, decisions, and controls

Demonstrated ability to redesign a process from the ground up and lead it through implementation

Ownership of measurable outcomes, including cost reduction, cost avoidance, revenue growth, or operational improvement
-
Ability to leverage Lean and Six Sigma principles as practical tools for process reinvention

Strong cross-functional influence and the ability to build a network of subject matter experts

Experience in a Fortune 500 company or similarly complex, multi-location organization preferred
-
Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is preferred
