Full job description

Overview

At QuickBooks, world-class design helps power the success of small businesses and self-employed people around the world. Our visual designers are involved at every step of a project — from insights and prototyping to pixel-perfect, launched design — and we're innovating through generative AI and conversational UI to make every interaction simple.

You'll develop Marketing Experiences across our owned channels that position our products as best-in-class, educate potential customers, and drive purchase. This role is based in California and requires hybrid in-office work 3 days a week. We're looking for someone who sets design direction for others as much as they execute it themselves — a strong craftsperson, a collaborative team player, and a constant advocate for the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Design meaningful, purpose-driven end-to-end experiences — with an emphasis on web — that guide customers toward the right product for their small business

  • Assess site architecture to optimize complex customer journeys and merchandising flows

  • Set design direction across multiple projects and mentor other designers on craft and process

  • Activate strong creative storytelling through interactive experiences, animation, and customer assets

  • Partner with the design systems team to create guidance, give editorial feedback, and help evolve the design system across multiple marketing channels

  • Collaborate with designers, content strategists, product managers, marketers, and researchers to drive business objectives

  • Participate in customer research, journey analysis, and qualitative testing to inform experience design for web and beyond

  • Advance a strong point of view backed by expertise, design rationale, customer data, and industry trends

  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously, managing time, scope, and stakeholder expectations

Qualifications

  • 12+ years in marketing-related design with a portfolio demonstrating measurable business impact

  • Demonstrated track record of setting design direction and mentoring other designers across a marketing org

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a design-related field

  • Deep commitment to design that's both functional and beautiful across web, email, and in-product marketing funnels

  • Strong business acumen and experience partnering directly with marketers and other designers

  • Uses data and AI tools to solve complex design problems, and drives improvements to team process and velocity through them

  • Advanced Figma experience, including component libraries, prototyping, and asset optimization/export

  • Working knowledge of content management systems

  • Powerful communication and presentation skills; can explain design rationale concisely

  • A portfolio demonstrating both strong craft and a collaborative process
