Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Technical Editor Specification Writer to join our team in the Strategic Deterrence Systems (SDS) division. This position will be located in Clearfield, UT and supports the Remote Visual Assessment (RVA) program.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Technical Editor and Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation to support the development, implementation, and delivery of products and/or services to government. This involves researching, writing, and revising documents such as user manuals, maintenance manuals, technical guides, and reports in accordance with government regulations and contract requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance

  • Requires a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 6 years of relevant experience; or 2 years of experience with a bachelor's degree

  • Requires experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Requires experience in technical writing/editing, and material review

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active US Government Secret Security Clearance

  • Knowledge of DoD industry practices

  • Experience writing, reviewing, and editing CDRLs and accompanying Data Item Description (DID)

  • Basic understanding of the DoD Guide for Marking Classified Documents and of proper procedures for tracking, storing and cataloging classified documents

  • Familiarization with Security Classification Guides and ability to align documents to guidance.

  • Experience with configuration management

  • Ability to mentor and/or instruct junior writers

  • Experience with risk management

  • Minuteman III Weapon System Knowledge and Experience

  • Must have the ability to provide technical writing/editing for technical data, ensuring file configuration control, and compliance with the program requirements

  • Must have ability to conduct quality review of materials

  • Must have strong writing, and editing skills, and experience in manipulating grammar

  • Must be detailed oriented and able to analyze documents for erroneous or technical anomalies and aligned with program standards.

  • Must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $57,500.00 - $95,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
