Manufacturing Engineering Director

Location: Nashua, NH or Lowell, MA

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Manufacturing Engineering Director to lead a multi-site Manufacturing Engineering organization supporting advanced RF and Microwave semiconductor and microelectronics assembly. This leader will be responsible for driving manufacturing excellence through process optimization, automation, new technology implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Director will provide leadership for Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, and Equipment Engineering teams, ensuring manufacturing processes are scalable, efficient, and capable of meeting customer quality, delivery, and cost objectives. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, operational leadership, and strategic thinking to support a rapidly growing business.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead and develop Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, and Equipment Engineering teams.

  • Build a high-performance engineering organization focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive technical skill development, succession planning, and talent growth across the engineering organization.

  • Establish engineering standards, best practices, and operational discipline.

Manufacturing & Process Excellence

  • Own manufacturing process capability, efficiency, productivity, and performance.

  • Drive process improvements that enhance quality, throughput, yield, cycle time, and cost competitiveness.

  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for complex manufacturing issues.

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and process innovations.

  • Support factory capacity planning and manufacturing scalability initiatives.

  • Ensure engineering resources are aligned with production requirements and customer commitments.

  • Provide technical leadership for new product introductions and production transfers.

  • Drive world-class quality performance through robust manufacturing processes and controls.

  • Support customer audits, technical reviews, and issue resolution activities.

  • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.

  • Participate in strategic customer engagements and operational reviews.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.

  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering leadership experience.

  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering managers and cross-functional technical teams.

  • Strong background in manufacturing process development, process optimization, and equipment engineering.

  • Experience supporting high-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments.

  • Proven success driving operational improvement, automation, and capacity expansion initiatives.

  • Experience in RF Microwave semiconductor assembly, electronics manufacturing, microelectronics packaging, aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-reliability industries.

  • Experience supporting ISO, AS9100, IPC, and other regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

RSU Eligible

This position is eligible to receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM's discretion, subject to individual and company performance.

Salary Range

The Salary Range for this position is $180,000 - $245,000. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates' experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
