What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: We are seeking qualified candidates to provide Mid-Level Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Design Support for ongoing maintenance, reliability, turnaround, and capital project activities within an operating industrial facility. This position will work as part of the site engineering and project execution team, providing design, drafting, field verification, and construction support services.

This position will provide E&I design and project support for STCC sites in both Port Arthur and Orange, Texas. The contractor will be primarily office-based in Port Arthur; however, periodic travel to the Orange site will be required to support field walkdowns, MOC and PSSR activities, design verification, construction support, and other project-related activities as needed.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

E&I Design & Drafting Support

  • Develop, modify, and maintain electrical and instrumentation design documentation.

  • Prepare and revise instrument loop drawings, wiring diagrams, installation details, one-line diagrams, control system drawings, cable schedules, junction box drawings, and panel layouts.

  • Prepare engineering drawing packages supporting maintenance, reliability, and capital projects.

  • Provide E&I design and drafting support for larger capital projects and turnaround activities.

  • Ensure compliance with site standards, codes, and drafting practices.

Field Verification & Technical Support

  • Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and collect design data.

  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance personnel to ensure design accuracy and constructability.

MOC & PSSR Support

  • Support MOC activities through documentation updates and field verification.

  • Participate in PSSR walkdowns and document deficiencies and corrective actions.

As-Built Documentation Management

  • Review and process construction redline markups.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate as-built drawings.

Construction & Project Support

  • Develop construction work packages and installation documentation.

  • Support project execution, contractor coordination, turnover, and closeout activities.

Ideal Background

Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is preferred.

Certification: Certification is not required at this level.

Experience: This position requires 4+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation field construction practices

  • Proven ability to read, interpret, and mark up engineering design drawings

  • Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent field experience

  • SmartPlant Instrumentation

  • Experience in refineries, chemical plants, power generation, or other industrial facilities

  • Commissioning and start-up support experience

  • Familiarity with document control and construction management systems

  • AutoCAD

  • Experience producing redline and as-built drawings from field observations

  • Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, ISA, IEEE, or equivalent)

  • Ability to work effectively in active industrial construction environments

  • Strong communication and documentation skills
