The Human Resources Intern will provide administrative and project support to a busy, multifaceted nonprofit Human Resources Department. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of human resource functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, employee records, workers’ compensation, leave administration, and organizational projects.

The HR Intern will work closely with members of the Human Resources team and assist with both day-to-day administrative responsibilities and special projects that support Sweetser’s organizational strategies and goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provideadministrative support to the Human Resources Department in a fast-paced,multifaceted nonprofit environment.

  • Assist with thereview, development, and updating of job descriptions as part of thedepartment’s job description project.

  • Assist with thedevelopment and maintenance of pay scale information and related compensationprojects.

  • Coordinate andparticipate in Human Resources and organization-wide projects as needed tosupport organizational strategies and initiatives.

  • Performadministrative tasks to support the new-hire processing and orientationprocess.

  • Assist withadministrative tasks related to benefits administration.

  • Provideadministrative support for workers’ compensation processes.

  • Assist withmaintaining and organizing personnel files to ensure compliance with applicablestate and federal regulations, as well as Council on Accreditation (COA)standards.

  • Conduct referencechecks and background verification as needed.

  • Assist withmaintaining accurate and organized employee records and HR documentation.

  • Support the HumanResources team with data entry, document preparation, filing, and otheradministrative duties.

  • Assist withvarious Human Resources projects and initiatives as assigned.

  • Maintainconfidentiality when working with employee and organizational information.

  • Perform otherduties and special projects as assigned.
