MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Vice President, Fulfillment Operations in our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and, fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America.

About the RoleThe Vice President, Fulfillment Operations ensures MPS delivers safe, efficient, scalable, and customer-focused fulfillment operations. As a key member of the executive leadership team, this role aligns execution with business strategy, builds organizational capability, and leverages technology, automation, and AI to enhance operational performance and meet customer commitments.As a member of the senior leadership team, the Vice President contributes to enterprise strategy, long-range planning, organizational effectiveness, and key business decisions that support sustainable growth and operational excellence.

What You'll Do● Establish and execute operational strategies that consistently achieve customer service, quality, productivity, safety, and financial objectives.● Serve as the executive owner of fulfillment service performance, partnering with Customer Service, Sales, and operational stakeholders to resolve issues impacting customer experience.● Achieve financial objectives through disciplined budget management, capital planning, and resource optimization.● Build and develop a high-performing fulfillment leadership team and establish succession planning strategies that strengthen organizational capability.● Evaluate and implement automation, robotics, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled solutions that improve efficiency and decision quality.● Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory, environmental, safety, and operational requirements, and champion a proactive culture of workplace safety.● Lead capacity planning to ensure facilities, workforce capabilities, and operational infrastructure are prepared to support future demand.● Ensure operational resilience through proactive risk management, contingency planning, and business continuity strategies.● Manage relationships with customers, vendors, consultants, technology providers, and strategic partners; remove barriers and support enterprise-wide initiatives.

What We're Looking ForEducation:● Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.Required Experience:● 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within warehouse, fulfillment, manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain operations.● Demonstrated success leading large-scale operational teams in fast-paced environments.● Proven success driving operational improvements, managing budgets, improving organizational effectiveness, and developing high-performing teams.Preferred:● Experience in publishing, retail distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, or other high-SKU environments.● Experience implementing warehouse technologies, automation solutions, labor management systems, analytics platforms, or AI-enabled operational tools.● Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certification.Key Capabilities● Strategic Thinking, Executive Leadership, Change Leadership, and Financial Stewardship.● Capacity Planning, Process Optimization, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Scalability.● Executive Communication, Stakeholder Management, and Collaboration.● Data-Driven Decision Making, Digital Transformation, and AI Enablement.

Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentWork is performed in both office and warehouse environments and requires the ability to travel throughout warehouse and office facilities, observe operational conditions and processes, and communicate effectively with employees, customers, vendors, and business partners. The work environment may include exposure to warehouse equipment, moving machinery, varying temperatures, and moderate noise levels. Salary Range: $190K to $225K
