Veterinary Technician Supervisor, Anesthesia | $32–$40/hour
Location: Lawrence, Massachusetts
Schedule: Full-Time | Four 10-hour shifts, Monday–Friday
Compensation: $32–$40/hour
Bulger Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician Supervisor, Anesthesia in Lawrence, MA. This role combines advanced veterinary anesthesia and analgesia with hands-on leadership and the opportunity to help develop a dedicated Anesthesia Department alongside two DACVAAs.
The position is approximately 75% clinical/technical and 25% administrative, with the balance varying based on patient caseload and departmental needs.

Occasional schedule adjustments may be necessary as the Anesthesia Department develops and expands
Responsibilities
-
Provide hands-on Veterinary Technician anesthesia support across specialty, emergency, surgical, and general practice services
-
Monitor anesthesia for soft tissue and orthopedic procedures
-
Oversee daily anesthesia operations, patient monitoring, pain management, protocols, and safety
-
Apply advanced knowledge of veterinary anesthesia and analgesia to support high-quality patient care
-
Collaborate with veterinarians, including two DACVAAs, and hospital teams on anesthesia and specialty medicine cases
-
Supervise, mentor, and develop Veterinary Technician and anesthesia team members
-
Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, continuing education, and team development
-
Participate as a member of the hospital management team
-
Develop staff schedules to maintain appropriate departmental coverage
-
Assist with departmental planning, budgeting, equipment selection, and resource management
-
Help establish workflows, structure, and operational processes for the developing Anesthesia Department

Monitor departmental performance and identify opportunities to improve patient care and team efficiency
-
Collaborate with hospital leadership on the continued growth of anesthesia and surgical services
Qualifications
-
Extensive experience in veterinary anesthesia, surgery, or specialty medicine
-
VTS in Anesthesia & Analgesia, CVT/LVT/RVT, or equivalent advanced anesthesia experience preferred
-
Previous supervisory, leadership, or management experience required
-
Extensive knowledge of anesthesia, analgesia, patient monitoring, and anesthesia equipment
-
Strong ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and work efficiently in a busy animal hospital environment
-
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
-
Commitment to high-quality patient care, teamwork, and team development
-
Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
