Full job description
What we’re building The marine industry supports recreation, global commerce, and national defense. And yet it runs on technology that hasn't meaningfully changed in fifty years. Until now.
Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry. We're rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. And we're already executing. We started with consumers to develop and harden our core technology. We’re now scaling production of our flagship model with new models and sectors on the horizon. Now we’re extending our platform to commercial applications, starting with tugs, ferries, and defense, with years worth of signed contracts and a pipeline that spans every vessel type on the water. The technology is proven, the momentum is building, and the opportunity is enormous. The marine industry is going electric and Arc is building the platform that powers it Who we’re looking for We’re looking for someone who’s fired up by our mission and ready to build. You’ll thrive here if you adapt quickly, take ownership, and care about the details. This is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters. You’ll report to the Director of Supply Chain Operations and work closely with a lean, high-trust team where everyone’s work matters. This role is on-site at our Los Angeles headquarters What You'll Do As a Global Supply Manager, you’ll own the supply base for your assigned commodities from sourcing through ramp and into steady-state production. You’ll make the calls on who we buy from, at what price and terms, and how we protect the build schedule.
- Owning commodity strategy. Develop and execute sourcing strategy for your assigned categories [e.g., powertrain, composite structures, electrical, cable and harness], including make vs. buy, dual-sourcing, and long-term capacity planning.
- Running supplier selection. Lead RFQs end to end: build should-cost models, compare quotes on total landed cost (not just piece price), and recommend suppliers to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Negotiating and managing contracts. Secure pricing, payment terms, tooling ownership, IP protection, and capacity commitments that support cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Partnering on new product launches. Work with Engineering, Quality, and Production from early design through ramp: give DFM and cost feedback, plan tooling and first-article builds, and make sure supply is ready before each program milestone.
- Managing supply risk. Identify and mitigate disruption risk across geopolitical, tariff, capacity, and single-source exposure, and maintain contingency plans for critical parts.
- Driving supplier performance. Own supplier scorecards and KPIs (on-time delivery, lead time, quality, total landed cost, inventory turns) and run corrective action and supplier development where needed.
- Building the function. Help establish the processes, tools, and data standards (commodity strategies, parts data, supplier records, PO and replenishment workflows) that let us scale without adding chaos.
- Owning cost and reporting out. Hold commodity-level cost targets and forecasts, and report cost, risk, and savings to leadership.
- Senior Staff only: Own multiple commodities or a major program’s full supply base, set standards for the broader GSM team, mentor or manage other GSMs, and lead executive-level supplier negotiations and strategic partnerships.
- Travel: Up to 25%, including domestic and international supplier visits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Staff: 7+ years / Senior Staff: 10+ years in global sourcing, procurement, or supply management
- Experience sourcing complex electromechanical or discrete manufactured products in a hardware company, including at least one new product introduction through production ramp
- Track record negotiating supplier contracts and delivering measurable cost, quality, or delivery results
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs, and to hold technical conversations with engineers and suppliers
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and comfort working with data to drive decisions (advanced Excel at minimum)
- Strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to influence cross-functional partners without direct authority
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in EV, battery, marine, automotive, aerospace, or other regulated or high-performance hardware industries
- Sourcing experience in Asia and/or Europe, plus familiarity with tariffs, customs, and trade compliance
- Experience with supplier quality processes such as PPAP/FAI, on-site audits, and supplier development
- Data skills beyond Excel (SQL, Python, BI tools)
- Prior experience at a startup or scale-up, especially building supply chain processes from scratch
- Relevant certifications (CPSM, APICS CSCP/CPIM)
- Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-moving environment where priorities shift
- Genuine enthusiasm for boating and clean energy
