A healthcare technology organization is seeking a Staff/Lead Software Engineer to help launch a new AI-enabled platform focused on revenue cycle management, claims workflows, and healthcare operations. This is a hybrid full-time opportunity with remote flexibility available for professionals located in the Chicago area. The organization is investing heavily in the next generation of AI-powered healthcare software and is searching for a senior engineering leader who can act as the technical anchor for a new platform. The ideal candidate enjoys owning outcomes, partnering closely with users and business stakeholders, and influencing both product strategy and technical direction.

The engineering environment leverages AWS, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, event-driven architecture, modern databases, and emerging AI-agent technologies. This role combines hands-on engineering, product collaboration, and technical leadership within a highly visible initiative. Engineers on this team are expected to help determine what should be built, not simply execute requirements. This is a chance to drive meaningful impact while working on modern technologies and AI-enabled products in a rapidly evolving healthcare market. Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Experience leading architecture and technical direction

  • Strong Python development experience

  • JavaScript and/or TypeScript expertise

  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and distributed systems

  • Event-driven architecture experience

  • Strong database design and SQL skills

  • AWS cloud platform experience

  • Experience collaborating directly with business stakeholders and product teams

  • Strong communication and mentorship capabilities

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) experience

  • Healthcare, HIPAA, EMR, or EHR experience

  • Claims processing knowledge

  • Eligibility, denials, collections, or A/R workflow experience

  • AI-driven application development

  • LLM, Bedrock, or AI-agent orchestration experience
