Full job description
Job Title: Environmental Associate
Location: East Windsor, NJ
Type: Contract To Hire
Compensation: $36 - $40 per hour pending experience
Work Model: Onsite
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00/8:30 AM - 4:00/4:30 PM
Responsibilities
-
Conduct daily or weekly walkthroughs of operational areas to identify, document, and resolve environmental compliance issues.

Gather and compile preliminary data required for mandatory regulatory compliance reports.

Assist with permit compliance and reporting by collecting operational data.

Monitor the Central Accumulation Area (CAA) and satellite accumulation points to ensure strict adherence to RCRA guidelines.

Assist in collecting routine water samples from facility outfalls for regulated parameters and compile sampling results.

Perform recurring periodic visual inspections in accordance with DPCC, SPCC, and SWPPP regulations.

Manage monthly spill kit inspections, maintain inventory levels, and order replacement supplies to ensure full facility readiness.

Track facility recycling metrics and support sustainability initiatives.

Communicate regularly with cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, and ability to initiate communication.
Requirements
-
BS in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related scientific discipline

0-3 years of Environmental, EHS, Sustainability, Compliance, or Wastewater industry experience (internships/co-ops acceptable)

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
-
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
-
Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
-
Ability to review technical documents, procedures, and regulatory records
-
Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility during the workday

Ability to work in manufacturing and operational areas including outdoors as needed
-
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and climb stairs

Ability to spend approximately 70% of time in the field on your feet
