You will partner with Regional Accounting Leadership, Finance Business Partners, and cross-functional teams to strengthen project costing, inventory accuracy, revenue accounting, and timely financial reporting.

Reporting to the Cost Accounting Supervisor, you will support project-based accounting across multiple locations. This role is well suited for an accounting professional with experience in discrete job costing, cost-to-cost percentage-of-completion accounting, SAP, and US GAAP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cost accounting, transactional, and general ledger activities, including period-end close, reconciliations, supplemental reporting, and account analysis.

  • Analyze sales, margins, inventory, job costs, and project costs; partner with Operations to resolve inventory and cost-related issues.

  • Support cost-to-cost percentage-of-completion and point-in-time revenue accounting by providing accurate cost and margin information for project forecasted EAC.

  • Participate in project review meetings and evaluate project costs, lower-of-cost-or-market requirements, loss contracts, and related accounting impacts.

  • Partner with Project Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, and Finance Business Partners to analyze costs and improve business processes.

  • Research cost-accounting issues, identify root causes, recommend process improvements, and improve the accuracy of accounting records.

  • Support internal and external audit activities, including documentation, explanations, reporting, and compliance with company policies and US GAAP.

  • Collaborate with the Business Services Center and regional accounting teams to ensure accurate transactions, reporting, and timely completion of close activities.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship is required due to potential support of military-related contracts.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Five or more years of relevant cost accounting experience, preferably in industrial manufacturing or a project-based environment.

  • Experience with discrete job costing and cost-to-cost percentage-of-completion accounting.

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP & ASC 606

  • Experience using a tier 1 ERP, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and complex data analysis.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly in a cross-functional environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and adhere to reporting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or professional certification, such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

  • Background in industrial equipment, engineered products, manufacturing, or contract-based operations.

  • Knowledge of lower-of-cost-or-market (LCM), loss contracts, inventory accounting, and project EAC forecasting.

  • Familiarity with multinational organizations and geographically distributed accounting teams.

  • Proficiency with Power Query, Power Pivot, or other Microsoft data-analysis tools.

  • Involvement in initiatives that improve financial close timelines, operational efficiency, obsolete and slow moving inventory, rework, scrap, or related performance measures.
