As an Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Intern , you will spend three months gaining hands-on experience while supporting meaningful work at Associated Electric Cooperative’s New Madrid Power Plant. This paid summer internship offers exposure to environmental compliance or workplace safety—depending on your degree program—while you learn from experienced professionals and see how EH&S supports safe, responsible, and reliable power generation.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist experienced EH&S professionals with projects related to environmental compliance, occupational safety, or both.

  • Support environmental monitoring, data collection, and compliance activities involving air, water, and waste.

  • Assist with workplace safety inspections, audits, training, and other initiatives that help protect employees and plant operations.

  • Gain firsthand exposure to EH&S practices, regulatory requirements, and utility operations in a power generation environment.

What You’ll Need

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field.

  • Interest in environmental compliance, workplace health and safety, power generation, or the utility industry.

  • Ability to commit to a three-month summer internship.
