Highlights of your role:

Surgical technologists are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical technologists work under the supervision and delegator authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists are experts in the theory and application of the principles of asepsis and sterile technique to combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation and tools and technologies to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Location: RoseauShift: days and call shifts Job Schedule: scheduled shifts during work week and call hoursHours: varying; depending on daily assignmentFTE: .8Weekends: rotating call weekendHolidays: varying call hours*Pay Range: $28.66-$41.56

*I t is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees.

What you’ll get to do in this role:

Gathers, checks and opens supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure

Sets up the sterile back table and Mayo stand with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solution needed for the procedure

Performs initial instrument, sharps and sponge counts with the circulator.

Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedure.

Holds retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon.

Applies electrocautery to clamps or forceps on bleeders.

Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room.

Participates in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care.

You’re an excellent fit, if you have:

• graduated from an accredited surgical technology program

• CST certification preferred

• excellent attention to detail

• good critical thinking skills
