Full job description

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metrology Engineer to lead dimensional inspection and measurement capabilities for our Ranger spacecraft program at our Tulsa manufacturing center. In this role, you will be responsible for CMM programming, laser tracking and scanning, GD&T interpretation, measurement system analysis, and establishing the metrology infrastructure needed to support precision spacecraft manufacturing.

You will play a critical role in developing and implementing reliable, repeatable, and efficient measurement processes as our Tulsa facility transitions into rate production. Working closely with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and production teams, you will select and commission advanced inspection equipment, develop inspection programs for flight hardware, and establish metrology standards that ensure dimensional accuracy and manufacturing consistency.

This position is ideal for an engineer who combines strong technical expertise in dimensional metrology with hands-on inspection experience, enjoys solving complex measurement challenges, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where precision, quality, and mission success are essential.

Where You’ll Make an Impact

  • Program and operate CMMs, laser trackers, structured light and laser scanners, and optical measurement systems

  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and develop inspection plans and datum strategies for machined, welded, and composite hardware

  • Specify, procure, and commission metrology equipment and inspection fixtures for the Tulsa facility

  • Develop first-article inspection packages per AS9102 and in-process inspection methods for production

  • Perform measurement system analysis (gauge R&R, uncertainty budgets) and establish calibration and gauge control programs

  • Support large-structure alignment and as-built measurement during spacecraft integration

  • Partner with design and manufacturing engineering on tolerance analysis, datum schemes, and inspectability

  • Analyze inspection data to identify process drift and drive corrective action with manufacturing engineering

What It Takes

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or a related technical field

  • 3+ years of experience in dimensional metrology, CMM programming, or quality engineering in a precision manufacturing environment

  • Expert-level understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience programming CMMs in PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or Polyworks

  • Experience with laser trackers (Leica, FARO, API) and Spatial Analyzer or similar software

  • Experience with structured light or laser scanning and point cloud analysis

  • Experience with large-structure and spacecraft alignment measurement

  • Experience setting up a metrology lab or inspection area in a new facility

  • Experience with gauge R&R, measurement uncertainty, and ISO 17025 calibration practices

  • Experience with AS9102 first-article inspection and PPAP

  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and mission assurance practices for flight hardware

What You’ll Get

  • Ownership – Lead the development and implementation of dimensional inspection and metrology capabilities for mission-critical spacecraft hardware, taking responsibility for measurement accuracy, inspection processes, and production readiness

  • Innovation – Work with advanced CMM programming, laser tracking, scanning technologies, and precision measurement systems supporting next-generation spacecraft manufacturing

  • Impact – Play a direct role in ensuring the dimensional accuracy, quality, and reliability of flight-ready spacecraft components supporting national security, civil, and commercial space missions

  • Growth – Join a collaborative, fast-paced engineering and manufacturing team where you can expand your technical expertise, establish new metrology capabilities, and help shape the future of spacecraft production

  • Compensation – Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and equity participation.

Location: Tulsa, OK

Base Salary: $68,000-80,000
