Full job description
About Brighterway Brighterway builds AI-native claims software and administration for casualty claims. We started in workers' compensation medical-legal review, where our agentic document pipeline sorts, de-duplicates and summarizes some of the most document-heavy files in the industry for national medical-evaluation networks. We are now building the claims platform on top of that foundation: intake across mail, fax, phone and email, bill review, subrogation, reserving signals, a workflow language, and state and federal reporting. We are backed by Y Combinator and Maverick Ventures. Our customers handle protected health information every day, so we run HIPAA, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 programs. The team is small and technical and sits close to customers. Everyone ships, and everyone talks to the people who use what they ship. The role You will build and lead the claims operation behind Brighterway's claims administration offering. That means hiring and managing adjusters, setting quality standards, owning customer relationships at the claims-leadership level, and deciding, with engineering, which parts of the job the platform should do and which parts stay with people. What you will do
-
Stand up and run the claims team: staffing models, caseload standards, quality audits, escalation paths.
-
Own claims outcomes for assigned customers and report on them.
-
Lead program transitions: file transfer, data mapping, reserve review, customer communication.
-
Partner with product and engineering on workflow design, automation and reporting.
-
Represent Brighterway with customers, brokers and regulators on claims matters.
What we look for
-
8+ years in workers' compensation claims with at least 3 years managing adjusters.
-
Track record running a claims unit at a TPA, carrier or large self-insured employer.
-
Experience with program transitions and RFP responses.
-
Comfort with data: you read loss runs and dashboards fluently and ask for better ones.
Nice to have
-
Federal programs experience (Longshore, Black Lung, FECA).
-
Multi-state experience across the Midwest and Appalachia.
How we work
-
Small team, high trust, direct access to founders and customers.
-
We ship to production weekly and measure ourselves on customer outcomes.
-
Competitive salary and meaningful equity. Health, dental and vision coverage. Flexible time off.
