The Work

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead and contribute to the development of sophisticated software solutions supporting mission-critical programs. You’ll have the opportunity to influence technical direction, solve complex problems, and help shape future capabilities and product roadmaps.

In this role, you may:

  • Lead, plan, and coordinate software development activities across the full software development lifecycle.

  • Analyze requirements and develop preliminary and detailed software designs.

  • Design, develop, integrate, test, debug, and maintain software applications.

  • Apply software engineering standards, processes, procedures, and tools to deliver reliable solutions.

  • Analyze and resolve complex technical issues involving software requirements, architecture, interfaces, data, and system performance.

  • Develop technical documentation, operating instructions, and software artifacts.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, customers, and stakeholders.

  • Provide technical leadership and innovative contributions to new business opportunities and future product capabilities.

  • Support technical, cost, and schedule execution for software development efforts.

Basic Qualifications

Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree with 9 years or more of professional experience; or 7 year of professional experience with a related Masters degree.

Embedded development experience

Background with software architecture and design

Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to at least the Secret level.

Desired Skills

Experience developing embedded software solutions in C or C++ within an RTOS

Integrating new software on new hardware

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented, development environment

Ability to multi-task, track/report earned value, and understand/support Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) baselining

Understanding of open architectures & modular design

Agile software development experience (e.g. Scrum)

Background using process tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, git)

Experience with Device driver development

Experience with LynxSecure Hypervisor

Experience with LynxOS RTOS

Experience with WindRiver VxWorks

Experience with Test Driven Development, unit testing, and automated test

DevSecOps experience and/or knowledge

Knowledge of modern DevSecOps tools and practices, including Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and/or Gitlab

Active Secret Clearance

DO-178C Safety Critical Experience

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $120600.00 - $224000.00

The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Flexible work arrangements and schedules (e.g., 4x10), 401(k) match, Paid time off, Holidays, Parental Leave, EAP, Flexible Spending Accounts, Education Assistance, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability.

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
