Humana is seeking a Vice President of Product Management to lead a strategic portfolio focused on improving healthcare quality and clinical experiences, member outcomes, and business performance across the Insurance Segment.

This executive will build and lead a product organization that translates member and clinical needs into scalable capabilities and measurable improvements in quality, experience, affordability, growth, and operational performance. In addition to leading dedicated product resources, this role will provide leadership across the Quality and Cost Strategy team, establishing common product management standards, governance and talent development practices while driving alignment around shared outcomes. The Vice President will have end-to-end accountability for product vision, strategy, investment decisions, roadmap priorities, execution, and outcomes.

Working across business, clinical, technology, analytics, operations, finance, legal, and compliance teams, this leader will identify the highest-value problems to solve, align teams around clear outcomes, and establish disciplined product practices that move ideas from discovery through delivery and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead a multi-year product strategy and roadmap aligned with Humana’s Insurance objectives and the needs of members, clinicians, and business stakeholders

  • Own portfolio investment decisions, including what to build, what not to build, when to invest, and when to stop or retire a product.

  • Set measurable customer, clinical, operational, and financial outcomes and hold teams accountable for sustained results.

  • Lead customer and market discovery through research, interviews, journey mapping, data analysis, testing, and feedback; translate insights into clear product priorities and testable hypotheses.

  • Guide products across the full lifecycle—from discovery and launch through scaling, optimization, and retirement—with clear measures for adoption, performance, value creation, and continuous improvement.

  • Use MVPs, pilots, rapid prototyping, and iterative development to validate ideas before scaling investment.

  • Apply AI, automation, analytics, data products, and digital platforms to improve healthcare experiences, outcomes, affordability, and operational performance.

  • Build alignment across risk adjustment, clinical operations, clinical innovation, analytics and technology; clarify decision rights; and accelerate execution in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Establish portfolio governance, decision forums, operating rhythms, and product management standards that emphasize outcomes over activity.

  • Build, develop, and retain high-performing teams while providing product leadership across QCS. Establish common product management disciplines, standards, governance, and talent development while strengthening product capabilities across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree or MBA Preferred.

  • Fifteen or more years of progressive leadership experience across healthcare, insurance, technology, product management, consulting, or a related industry, including significant responsibility for strategy, transformation, or business performance.

  • Eight or more years leading product portfolios, digital products, strategic business capabilities, or enterprise transformation initiatives.

  • Demonstrated accountability for investment decisions, roadmaps, execution, and measurable business outcomes.

  • Experience building or leading product-centered teams and operating models.

  • Strong strategic, analytical, and financial judgment, with the ability to make disciplined tradeoffs across customer value, clinical impact, business economics, technology constraints, operational readiness, and regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience leading highly matrixed, cross-functional initiatives that require enterprise influence without direct authority.

  • Experience establishing product management disciplines, governance processes, operating models, and talent development practices while driving measurable results.

  • Proven ability to influence executive leaders, align cross-functional teams, and lead through ambiguity and organizational change.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex issues into actionable decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree.

  • Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, health plan, or other regulated healthcare experience.

  • Experience in provider operations, quality improvement, population health, clinical operations, risk adjustment, care management, or value-based care.

  • Track record of building and scaling product organizations

  • Experience developing or scaling AI-enabled products, automation, analytics, data products, or digital platforms and translating emerging technology into customer and business value.

  • Familiarity with agile product development, human-centered design, experimentation, and modern product operating models
