Job description

Safran Aerosystems' Wall Township, New Jersey facility is home to the North American headquarters of our Evacuation Systems Business Unit (SEV). Here, you will help design, manufacture, maintain, and support life-saving aircraft evacuation systems, including emergency slides, life rafts, and flotation devices.

Building on more than a century of innovation, our teams play a critical role in the development, certification, and production of advanced aerospace safety equipment used around the world. As part of Safran's global Aerosafety Division, you'll contribute to technologies that help protect millions of passengers and crew members every year.

This position will be responsible for the development of new manufacturing operations and processes. This ranges from an introduction of new prospective equipment to advanced fabrication strategies and creative ingenuity. In this role, there will be opportunity to build manufacturing procedures and methods for the latest cutting-edge evacuation slides and rafts during their development and throughout its fabrication.

Main Objectives:

  • Manufacturing Engineering support for New Slide development programs and improvement efforts where long-term development (longer than six months) is required to release a planned change to production.

  • Engineered solutions to Improve process and workstation Ergonomics

  • Processing of Cutting work instructions and Engineering Change Notices with drafting software.

  • Engineering Work Orders support, and Manufacturing work aid updates for high priority efforts.

  • Communication with Design Engineering and production departments in our different facilities to ensure manufacturability and standardization throughout development

  • Process design through common methods, such as tooling, instructions and equipment.

  • Proposals for Tooling and process equipment design for standards and quality improvements

  • Problem Solving and Process design through common methods, such as tooling, instructions and equipment.

  • Creation and maintenance of CNC inputs for Cutting machines and Tool drawings when needed.

  • Prototype and test procedure design for new manufacturing processes and improvements.

  • Support for introduction of new production lines

  • Ergonomic and Process Capability Studies for new programs

  • Presentation at Engineering Reviews and equipment Capacity Analysis

  • PFMEA creation and update support

  • Tooling and process equipment design for New Programs

  • Industrial project management

  • Provide and maintain work instructions when needed

  • Assistance with establishing accurate labor standards

  • Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

Education and/or Experience

BSIE, BSME or Process Engineering degree required plus 3 to 4 years engineering work experience

Knowledge/Skills

  • Hands on Equipment troubleshooting - Basic

  • Ability to design tools and aids – Advanced

  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering documents. - Basic

  • Experience with CAD software. Preferably Auto Cad, Solid Works, or Catia - Advanced

  • Must have strong computer skills - Advanced

  • Excellent communication skills. - Advanced

  • Demonstrated Project Management Skill a plus
