FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The College of Staten Island (CSI) is excited to announce a tenure-track open rank faculty position for the Nursing Department in Staten Island, New York. The Nursing Department is a member of the consortium of three senior City University of New York (CUNY) colleges that offer undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees. The College of Staten Island offers two prelicensure programs (AAS and 4-year BS), as well as the RN-BS, Master’s (Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (Advanced Clinical Care) programs. This open rank position is for a dynamic faculty member eager to collaborate and teach in undergraduate and graduate curricula.
The CSI nursing faculty position presents an exceptional opportunity for the successful candidate to participate in the continued intellectual and institutional growth and development of the long-standing Nursing Department within the City University of New York.
This position is anticipated to begin in Fall 2027 and is a full-time, in-person teaching position. Generally, full-time faculty at CUNY (except library faculty) have annual leave from the day after spring commencement until three days, excluding Saturday and Sunday, before August 30.
CSI is a senior CUNY college organized around two academic divisions and two schools with over many professional areas. CSI’s internationally recognized faculty passionately engage in scholarly and artistic activities, and together with a strong professional staff, lead students through transformational learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. The college is situated on a 204-acre tree-lined spacious site with recently built student dormitories and is currently engaging in capital expansion. CSI is a hub of intellectual and artistic activity, a community partner, and source of economic impact and job creation for the greater Staten Island area.

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in nursing. Other qualifications include the ability to teach successfully and provide service; commitment to academic and inclusive excellence; strong communication skills; and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in nursing (PhD, EdD, or DNP). If earned doctorate is not in nursing, must have a master’s degree in nursing.

New York State license as a registered nurse, unencumbered, with current registration. If not licensed and registered in New York State, must have an unencumbered registered nurse license in another state in the United States and be eligible to obtain licensure in New York State following hire.

Three (3) years of clinical nursing practice

Three (3) years of academic teaching experience with nursing students in classroom and clinical sites.
Preferred qualifications include:

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse certification and experience.

Evidence of professional scholarship activities in nursing such as research, publications, quality improvement projects, conference presentations.

Experience in writing grants
-
Knowledge of simulation standards of best practice.

Experience with academic accreditation and writing curricular reports.
COMPENSATION
Assistant Professor: $59,256 - $98,231
Associate Professor: $76,848 - $113,745
*Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Generally, full-time faculty at CUNY (except library faculty) have annual leave from the day after spring commencement until three days, excluding Saturday and Sunday, before August 30. Salary is distributed over 26 pay periods annually.
