Empire State University invites applications for Field Supervisors to support student teachers enrolled in its Early Childhood program. The University seeks to expand its pool of supervisors to accommodate the continued growth of student-teaching placements throughout New York State, including the New York City area.
Field Supervisors are typically assigned to support a student teacher for one full semester, consisting of two eight-week placements. During each eight-week placement, supervisors are responsible for the following:

Participating in a virtual introductory meeting with the cooperating teacher and student teacher.

Completing two in-person observations and one online observation.

Providing constructive feedback to support the student teacher's instructional practice and professional development.

Meeting with the student teacher prior to and following each observation to discuss feedback and areas for continued growth.

Participate in a three-way conference with the cooperating teacher and student teacher at the mid-point and at the conclusion of the placement.

Submitting all required observation documentation electronically by the established deadlines.
Supervisors are needed in the following geographic areas:

Bronx

Chatauqua County

Jefferson County

Orange County

St. Lawrence County

Staten Island
-
Syracuse area
Field Supervisors generally support one to three student teachers per semester, depending on supervisor availability and placement needs.
Appointments are anticipated to begin January 4, 2027.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
-
Professional or permanent New York State teaching certification in Early Childhood or Childhood Education.
-
A minimum of five years of full-time classroom teaching experience and attainment of tenure as a classroom teacher.
-
Proficiency in using technology to fulfill supervisory responsibilities, including email and electronic submission of observation documentation, with access to a printer and scanner.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Teaching certification covering prekindergarten through grade two (PreK-2).
-
Prior experience conducting classroom observations and providing feedback to teacher candidates or classroom teachers.

Knowledge of the New York State Teaching Standards.
Special Information:

These positions require in-person supervision. Supervisors must reside within commuting distance of assigned student-teaching placements.

Student assignments are based on placement locations and supervisory needs each semester. Supervisors may accept multiple student assignments per semester, depending on availability and placement needs.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Visa sponsorship is not available for these positions.
Additional Information:
Salary: Supervisors receive a flat payment of $400 per student for each eight-week session, totaling $800 per student for a full 16-week placement.
