Manager, Food Safety Audit

Position Summary

The Manager, Food Safety Audit owns the end-to-end management, evolution, and operational effectiveness of Panera's FSA program within Operations Services. The role owns program content, updates, standards alignment, third-party administration, reporting, communication, and continuous improvement. The Manager cross-references FSA findings with BSR, Health Department, pest-activity, corrective-action, and other operational data to identify root causes and develop future solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Program Ownership & Audit Development

  • Own day-to-day FSA strategy, administration, and performance.
  • Create, test, and maintain assessment questions, scoring, criticalities, guidance, and documentation.
  • Coordinate annual and cycle updates, cross-functional review, testing, approval, and implementation.
  • Ensure questions are measurable, operationally relevant, and aligned with approved food-safety standards.

Third-Party Administration

  • Serve as day-to-day contact for the third party administering FSA visits.
  • Coordinate cycles, form deployment, system requirements, reporting, field communications, and calibration.
  • Monitor quality, consistency, timeliness, data accuracy, and vendor performance.
  • Support corrective actions, appeals, repeat visits, training visits, and applicable program processes.

Integrated Insights & Pest Coordination

  • Analyze FSA results with BSR, Health Department, pest activity, and corrective-action data.
  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, heat maps, and role-specific business reviews.
  • Participate in pest-service dispatch, tracking, escalation, and closure and connect repeat activity to relevant findings.

Continuous Improvement & Field Activation

  • Lead root-cause analysis and convert findings into field actions and improvement opportunities.
  • Recommend improvements to standards, routines, training, tools, equipment, facilities, communications, or technology.
  • Support pilots and future solutions and measure sustained impact.
  • Develop guides, change summaries, FAQs, checklists, and readiness materials.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in restaurant operations, food safety, audit administration, quality assurance, compliance, operational excellence, analytics, vendor management, or a related field.
  • Experience with multi-location programs and third-party providers preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional project planning, organization, prioritization, and follow-through.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, judgment, and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to influence without authority, navigate ambiguity, and build stakeholder alignment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project-management tools.
  • Ability to travel based on business needs.

Competitive Pay $92,055 - $110,466 annually

The actual pay offered will be determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and geographical location. Individual compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
