What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, engineers, and modelers, to develop initial sketches and renderings for exterior and interior components of electric vehicles.

Translate conceptual designs into 3D models and create detailed technical drawings for prototyping and manufacturing purposes.

Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to refine and optimize design concepts, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and manufacturing feasibility.

Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate design proposals, considering factors such as aerodynamics, structural integrity, weight distribution, and material selection.

Generate 2D and 3D visualizations, renderings, and animations to effectively communicate design intent to stakeholders, including management and marketing teams.

Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure design intent is accurately translated into production-ready components, while maintaining cost and quality targets.

Continuously monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer preferences to drive innovation and incorporate the latest advancements into vehicle designs.

Participate in design reviews, provide technical expertise, and contribute to the overall improvement of design processes and methodologies.
Location & Travel Expectations:

This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
-
This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.

Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, or a related field, or sufficient certification and proven experience deemed an equivalent substitution.

8+ years of experience as a Studio Engineer or related role in the automotive or transportation industry.

Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., CATIA) for 3D modeling and technical drawings.

Strong knowledge of automotive design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and industry regulations.

Demonstrated ability to translate design concepts into practical solutions while considering functional requirements, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
-
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present design concepts to diverse audiences.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $130,000.00 - $160,000.00
