As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op Intern , you will spend six months gaining hands-on experience while contributing to real projects at Associated Electric Cooperative’s New Madrid Power Plant. This paid engineering internship gives you the opportunity to step beyond the classroom, work alongside experienced professionals, and see how mechanical engineering supports safe, reliable power generation in the energy industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to meaningful mechanical engineering projects that support power plant operations, reliability, and performance.

  • Work alongside experienced engineers and plant professionals who will provide guidance, mentoring, and practical insight.

  • Apply classroom knowledge to real-world mechanical systems, equipment, maintenance challenges, and engineering projects.

  • Build practical technical and problem-solving skills through six months of immersive experience in the utility industry.

What You’ll Need

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Interest in power generation, mechanical systems, utility operations, or the energy industry.

  • Ability to commit to a six-month co-op internship.
