St. Peter's Health Partners/Trinity Health has an exciting new opportunity for a Director of Acute Inpatient Therapy – Regional. This leader will provide strategic, operational, clinical, and financial leadership for acute inpatient therapy services across the Trinity Health NY Albany and Syracuse markets. This position is accountable for the performance, quality, growth, and integration of Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services across four acute-care hospital locations.

What you will do:

  • Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Therapy & Orthopedic Services, the Regional Director serves as the primary therapy leader for the acute inpatient service line and provides direction, standardization, and accountability across all participating hospitals.
  • The Director will partner closely with hospital executive leadership, medical staff, nursing, case management, utilization management, care management, rehabilitation services, finance, quality, informatics, and other interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, clinical progression, throughput, length of stay, discharge planning, and appropriate utilization of therapy services.
  • This role will maintain a visible leadership presence across both the Albany and Syracuse markets, with time appropriately allocated among the four hospitals. Each hospital will have an onsite therapy supervisor and/or manager who reports to the Regional Director and is responsible for day-to-day operational leadership at that location.
  • The Regional Director will establish a consistent regional operating model while allowing for appropriate adaptation to the unique needs of each hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for PT, OT, and SLP acute inpatient services across all four hospitals.

  • This is a multi-site regional leadership position requiring routine onsite presence across the Albany and Syracuse markets.The Director will establish a structured leadership presence that provides meaningful time at all four hospitals, with allocation of time based on organizational priorities, performance needs, strategic initiatives, and leadership development requirements. Travel between the Albany and Syracuse markets is an expected component of the role.• Establish appropriate rounding, leadership, communication, and escalation structures across all locations.

  • Build strong relationships with hospital presidents, chief operating officers, chief nursing officers, medical staff, and other key stakeholders.

  • Serve as the regional therapy subject-matter expert for acute inpatient rehabilitation and therapy operations.

  • Establish a unified regional vision, strategy, standards, and operating model for acute inpatient therapy.

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management to onsite therapy managers and/or supervisors at each hospital.

  • Ensure consistent clinical, operational, documentation, productivity, quality, and patient-experience expectations across the region.

  • Maintain a regular onsite leadership presence in both Albany and Syracuse.

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology program and current New York State clinical licensure in the applicable discipline.
  • Significant clinical experience in acute-care hospital therapy services.
  • Progressive leadership experience within PT, OT, SLP, rehabilitation, or hospital operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Experience with performance metrics, productivity, budgeting, staffing, and operational management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of acute-care patient flow, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care.
  • Strong understanding of quality improvement and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to analyze operational and financial data and translate findings into action.
  • Experience with orthopedic service lines and/or bundled payment programs, CMS value-based care initiatives, Lean Six Sigma or other performance-improvement methodologies, and experience with developing and managing regional dashboards or scorecards.

Pay Range: $66.50 - $87.70 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
