Full job description

We are looking for a talented School to Work – Manufacturing ( Gearing ) student to join our 2nd Shift team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Fletcher, NC .

*This position will be on-site in Fletcher, NC.

This is an onsite role to assist the Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems plant Gearing team with a variety of projects.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Quality Workmanship: Applying high standards of workmanship and craftsmanship ensures the quality and reliability of the work performed.

  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participating in continuous improvement activities and TPM teams helps improve quality, safety, processes, and material flow.

  • Ensure Safety: By stopping work and reporting any major injury hazards immediately, you help maintain a safe working environment.

  • Compliance and Reporting: Reporting any work-related injuries, illnesses, incidents, or hazards ensures compliance with HSE standards and promotes a culture of safety.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Drives results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.

  • Action oriented - Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.

  • Collaboration - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

  • Controls Safety: Recognize and address hazards related to electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls in a manufacturing environment. This will help you incorporate safe practices and reduce injuries.

  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Demonstrate your understanding of manufacturing processes by implementing changes to meet functional needs and contribute to continuous improvement. This will enhance operational efficiency.

  • Applicants must have good communication skills and be self-starter.

Education :

  • For the Fletcher SHOP STW program, current students attending BlueRidge Community College , and enrolled in a CNC Machining or related program are highly encouraged to apply.

  • This is an onsite position. Work schedule can vary as needed to accommodate the student's regular school schedule.

Experience:

  • Request that successful candidate work a routine schedule up to the STW limit of up to 40 hours per week. There is room for flexibility when needed.

  • Successful applicant will be working onsite hours supporting Gearing at the CDBS in Fletcher, NC.

Student Gearing

Hourly Rate: $20.00/hr

Shift Premium: $1.00/hr
