Description
** This role is open for both Seattle and Sunnyvale locations**
As a Senior Product Manager in the Alexa Echo Devices team, you will own the in-market portfolio for the product line that defined the smart-speaker category — hundreds of millions of Echo devices in homes worldwide. This is a portfolio-level role with real strategic breadth: you'll think across device generations, form factors, and customer segments simultaneously, making high-impact decisions powered by some of the richest telemetry and performance data in consumer hardware.
You will be accountable for monitoring market performance, managing the full product lifecycle from post-launch through end-of-life, and making trade-offs between user experience, business impact, and engineering feasibility. Your lifecycle learnings will feed directly into next-generation Echo development — you're not just maintaining products, you're shaping what comes next. This role is inherently cross-functional; you'll partner daily with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Data Science, Legal, PR, and executive leadership to manage one of Amazon's most visible consumer hardware portfolios.
Key job responsibilities
You will own the Monthly Business Review (MBR) as the primary mechanism for inspecting device performance and driving cross-functional action. Using telemetry, star ratings, reviews, latency data, and sales performance, you will identify what needs to change and drive post-launch improvements — primarily on the software side through firmware updates, experience enhancements, and performance tuning — into shipped products at scale.
At the portfolio level, you will define the sustaining product roadmap, develop the full lifecycle management strategy, and lead global upgrade conversion and new customer acquisition efforts that grow the installed base. When a product faces challenges, you will determine the right trade-offs between investing more, sustaining, or sunsetting — and own the recommendation to leadership.
You will translate field data, upgrade funnel analytics, and lifecycle impact analysis into clear investment priorities, ensuring that every insight you surface informs next-generation Echo product development. Your strategic decisions will shape how next-generation capabilities are delivered across device hardware generations with varying compute profiles.
A day in the life
As a Senior Product Manager on the Alexa Echo Devices team, your day will involve monitoring product health signals across the portfolio — telemetry, star ratings, customer reviews, Alexa response latency, and sales performance — to answer the core question: are these devices doing well in-market, and if not, what needs to change? You'll lead cross-functional reviews, drive software-side improvements into already-shipped hardware, and make portfolio trade-off decisions that balance customer experience, business outcomes, and engineering feasibility. Every function touches your work — Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Data Science, Legal, and PR.
About the team
The Alexa Echo Devices team owns every "Hey Alexa" hardware product — the full Echo device lineup. PMs on the team each lead individual products through development and post-ship performance management. This role focuses on what happens after launch: monitoring market performance, managing the product lifecycle, and making trade-offs, investment, and end-of-life. The team is inherently cross-functional, partnering across engineering, marketing, operations, finance, and executive leadership to manage one of Amazon's most visible consumer hardware portfolios.
