Research Associate – In Vivo Pharmacology

Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Research Associate for a contract-to-hire position at a cutting-edge client in Thousand Oaks. Position Summary:

The Client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to contribute to the establishment and validation of in vivo models aligned with the company’s therapeutic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pharmacology studies in animal models of neurological and cardiovascular diseases to evaluate therapeutic candidates through multiple readouts.

  • Contribute to study design, planning, and execution of in vivo studies related to early exploratory indications, tolerability, PK/PD, and therapeutic efficacy.

  • Perform standard in vivo procedures including rodent handling, blood collection, dosing via multiple routes (oral, IV, IP, SC), urine collection, necropsies, and tissue collection in compliance with IACUC protocols and AAALAC regulations.

  • Maintain accurate records of procedures performed on animals following approved company regulatory guidelines.

  • Coordinate the collection, labeling, storage, and shipment of biological samples (e.g., blood, tissue, organs) to ensure accurate tracking, proper preservation, and compliance with study timelines.

  • Prepare and maintain surgical suites and associated equipment for rodent procedures, ensuring aseptic conditions and proper instrument sterilization.

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary scientific groups including discovery specialists and in vivo team members.

  • Draft and finalize study protocols and technical reports for rodent-based experiments, ensuring clarity, scientific accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in preclinical research or a related area.

  • Strong in vivo experience across multiple animal models, with proficiency in dosing and administration of test compounds via various routes.

  • Experience in maintaining regulatory-compliant records, coordinating biological sample logistics, and preparing surgical facilities for aseptic rodent procedures.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, familiarity with lab equipment and procedures, and adherence to laboratory safety guidelines.

  • Proficiency in basic lab software: Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, and ELN for record keeping.

  • Highly motivated, collaborative, and broad-thinking individual with strong communication skills and the ability to present findings effectively.
