Full job description
Level is a learning technology company dedicated to helping students build real academic and life skills with confidence and joy. We combine proven curriculum principles with world class interactive design to make meaningful practice something students want to come back to, not something they struggle through. We support what teachers, schools, and parents are already doing by increasing student engagement with high quality, standards aligned practice that reinforces classroom learning. That's why we're building: For students: Rewarding and motivating learning experiences that meet students where they are to build real academic proficiency. For educators: Tools that fit naturally into instruction and help students stay engaged while reducing teacher workload. For parents: Activities that help your kid catch up or get ahead, build confidence, and minimize homework battles, whether learning at school or at home. We are committed to helping every person maximize their potential and live a life of meaning. It's a difficult problem that requires brilliant people and tremendous effort over time.
Level is seeking a Senior Live Ops Analyst to lead production and process analytics for the live service release program across our portfolio of educational games. You'll own BI strategy end-to-end for one or more release workstreams — architecting dashboards and data models, running root-cause analysis on pipeline inefficiencies, and advising producers and infrastructure leadership on where to unblock dependencies and improve throughput. You'll also mentor other analysts and help raise the analytical bar for how the org measures production health.
What You Will Do
-
Production BI Strategy Ownership: Own the end-to-end BI strategy for one or more release workstreams, including data models, dashboard architecture, metric definitions, and reporting cadence.
-
Advanced Dashboarding: Design and build comprehensive dashboards and semantic layers in Tableau and Looker that give producers and leadership a clear, self-service view of throughput, dependency risk, and milestone health.
-
Deep Data Analysis: Write complex SQL queries (BigQuery/MySQL) and Python analyses to answer strategic questions about pipeline bottlenecks and cross-team process performance.
-
Executive Health Reporting: Own the cadence and format of executive-level "health check" presentations on release program status across teams.
-
Root-Cause & Process Improvement: Lead investigations into recurring bottlenecks and dependency failures, and recommend concrete process changes.
-
Strategic Advising: Partner directly with producers and production leadership to shape process improvements using BI as the foundation.
-
Mentorship: Mentor associate and mid-level analysts on SQL, data modeling, dashboarding, and analytical rigor.
-
Cross-Team Insight Sharing: Identify trends and learnings that apply across multiple release teams, and share them with other analysts.
-
Data Quality & Governance: Establish and uphold data quality, definition, and tracking standards for production data across the BI function.
Qualifications Need to Have:
-
5+ years of experience in business intelligence or analytics, with significant time supporting production, program, or process operations in games, software, or comparable digital product environments.
-
Strong SQL expertise (BigQuery, MySQL, or similar) and proficiency in Python for advanced analysis and automation.
-
Proven experience building and owning dashboards and data models tracking process or production metrics (Tableau, Looker, or comparable BI tools).
-
Demonstrated experience diagnosing pipeline bottlenecks or dependency issues and translating findings into concrete recommendations.
-
Track record of advising production or program leadership using data-backed recommendations.
-
Strong communication skills, able to translate complex analysis into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders, including executives.
-
Experience mentoring or supporting the growth of junior analysts.
Nice to Have:
-
Experience with additional BI or analytics tooling (Looker, Power BI, Amplitude, or similar).
-
Familiarity with data pipeline, ETL, or dbt-style transformation tooling and data warehouse design.
-
Experience in educational technology or game development.
-
Experience supporting live service release cadence or program operations planning.
